Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service prepares and maintains a Local Development Scheme (LDS), on behalf of Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council.  

The Local Development Scheme is a timetable for the production of new or revised documents that set out the planning policy framework for Greater Cambridge. It is designed to help community members and other stakeholders understand what plans we have and intend to produce. 

The latest Local Development Scheme was adopted in August 2022. It sets out the timetable for the preparation of the: 

Due to continued work exploring water supply, and delay to the submission of the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant relocation Development Consent Order, the Local Plan timetable will be updated. This will not be before September 2023, and only once we have greater clarity on these matters.

The Local Development Scheme also lists the neighbourhood areas that have been designated and where a Neighbourhood Plan is being prepared by a neighbourhood forum or local Parish Council. To find out more visit Neighbourhood Planning.
