Toby Williams
Role:
Interim Development Manager and Planning Compliance (East Team)
Toby joined Cambridge City Council in 2003 and since then has worked across both the Development Management and Strategic Sites Teams as an officer and manager. Initially involved in the applications for the retail developments of the Grand Arcade and Bradwell’s Court projects in Cambridge Centre, Toby’s work moved to help enable the initial outline and reserved matters applications for Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire DC growth sites to come forward. This work includes being a lead officer for a number of the Southern Fringe sites, including the Biomedical Campus, Bell School, Glebe Farm and Trumpington Meadows proposals and Darwin Green, in the north of the city.
More recently, Toby was seconded to work on a major out of plan proposal to expand the Wellcome Genome Campus in Hinxton. This was granted planning permission on the grounds of national interest.
Toby has managed various Delivery Management (DM) teams during his planning tenure and currently oversees the East Team DM service for both Councils, and supports the Compliance Team with planning enforcement matters.
Toby is a keen cyclist, home brewer and overall sportsperson.
